BEACON Team Assessment

What is the BEACON Team Assessment?

The BEACON helps healthcare and community collaborations to reflect on where they are in their collective leadership. Please bring all core team members (and anyone else who will take the assessment together) to introduce them to what the assessment will be about and the instructions.

Please make sure all teammates check their inboxes [and spam folders] for an email from J2@weintheworld.org if you are doing the assessment electronically–or send it to them by email if completing on paper. Instructions about how to complete the assessment will be included in the email and can also be found below. The way the BEACON is intended to be used is described below:

Once all team members have completed the assessment, their scores will be sent to them and to the team facilitators. We ask that you bring everyone together to look at your scores, discuss where you have differences in your scores of four or more, and where you might have opportunities to either build on strengths or improve. Develop a reflection and action plan and submit when you complete your application.

You can also choose to download the BEACON for JUSTICE on paper, have each team member fill it out individually, develop a compilation of scores (including individual scores shown on a master) and go through the same process. In either case, please submit the action plan based on your reflection.

After your team has completed the assessment:

1

Upload your compiled scores (including the full distribution) whether you completed the BEACON electronically or on paper. A scanned PDF is perfectly acceptable to upload.

2

Reflect on the process of looking at the BEACON assessment with your team. (300 words)

3

How might you use these results in the work of your team?

Reflect on these questions below.
